About Jan Reyelt

I am a skilled Researcher with over twelve years of professional experience in the CDMO business. I have a strong scientific background with a focus on Genetics, Molecular Biology and Microbiology. My field of activity includes Immunology and Antibody Technologies, and especially Nanobodies (VHHs). During my work in R&D divisions, I acquired profound knowledge on microbial production systems, such as Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, and the fast-growing bacterium Vibrio natriegens. At the interface between academic research and industrial application I am well-versed in assessing emerging technologies for their commercial use. On the other hand, I know the needs of industrial production processes and strive to define and implement more economic strategies. This includes literature research, personal communication with scientific staff as well as hands-on research in the laboratory.I am expert in vector design and DNA cloning as well as in the direct modification of the bacterial chromosome by Lambda-red-mediated Homologous Recombination, the key technique in the field of Genetic Engineering and Metabolic Engineering.I earned sound knowledge on working in cross-project groups, on project management and customer care, and successfully finished more than 160 projects as Single Point of Contact for national and international clients, many of them from prestigious food and pharmaceutical industry. I have developed strong leadership skills through teaching and training of colleagues and co-workers as well as mentoring of students in practical courses and internships.Writing reports, project proposals and articles has given me significant practice in the presentation of results and data. Some of these results for academic groups have been published in peer-reviewed journals (e.g. OLIVERA et al. (2019). Sci Rep; HEINS et al. (accepted). Development and characterization of Escherichia coli triple reporter strains for investigation of population heterogeneity in bioprocesses. MCF).As a certified biologist, I offer the competence of a highly qualified, problem-solving oriented scientist. I feel obliged to always meet highest professional standards and always strive to keep myself up to date with the latest advances in biotechnology. I am ready and willing to develop myself and welcome opportunities to progress my career, in particular within pharmaceutical R&D.
