About Jan Schmidt
Jan Schmidt was born and raised in Austria. After his studies at TU Vienna and Bath University, he finished his master in Process Engineering with a focus on renewable energy, where he first became interested in hydrogen technology. He started his professional career at an international technology company called AVL, where he wrote his master thesis dealing with stationary SOFC systems fuelled by ammonia. After finishing his studies, he became part of the PEM fuel cell team at AVL, developing fuel cell systems while working on international projects. In late 2021, Jan decided to join Hystar and move to Norway.At Hystar, he is now working on the company’s product strategy to provide highly efficient PEM electrolyser systems. He is driving the development of a scalable electrolyser unit for a 100+ MW electrolyser plant designs. Based on the company’s game changing and patented technology, Hystar’s ambition is to become a world leader in the field of PEM electrolysis.
