In our group the research is mainly driven by the idea to find materials which are appropriate for energy conversion or energy harvesting. As such, I'm currently focused on the growth Silicon-Germanium-nanowires as a promising material for highly efficient thermoelectric devices (energy harvesting). While I'm doing experimental work a major task is also to acquire funding for future research. Other topics in our group are crystalline silicone on glass and most recently micro-concentrator CIGS solar cells both for cost effective photovoltaics.

I'm working as a Postdoc and DFG Research Fellow in the field of thermodynamic modeling of nanowire growth. The focus is put on the description of a considerable broadening of the length distribution of nanowires grown in VLS-CVD processes. The goal is a qualitative description to find key parameters that influence the length distribution.

Growth and characterization of germanium nanowires grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Investigation of surfaces and growth morphology by means of various microscopy techniques. Investigation of growth kinetics of nanowires (e.g. surface diffusion).Responsibilities: Deposition Processes (MBE, PVD), AFM, SEM, UHV-Cluster
