About Jan Thiele
Cornerstones of my professional history:My life as a product builder and entrepreneur startet during my studies of print-technologies, first as a freelancer with a focus on technology design, making complex content more approachable and later teaching kids how to code, create and engage in new topics.To grow further with this, I co-founded BurgEins in 2004, a communications agency, specialized in authentic marketing (a novel concept at that time). While working on new digital product concepts, we stumbled into printed functionalities, where we invented electronic features that can be made in a printing machine. We created the worlds first digitally connected paper products.In 2007 I co-founded Printechnologics, a pioneering company that was among the first worldwide to market fully printed electronic technologies with novel smartphone applications on a large scale. During that time, I built and managed an R&D and product development team that delivered astonishing interactive features, entirely made in a printing machine. In the following years my work resulted in several strategic investments and partnerships with global industry leaders and brands.For the following years we leveraged a very unique position, where we combined printing technologies, electronics, existing infrastructure (smartphones) and machine learning in ways that had not been tried before. This opened doors from toys and games to packaging, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, retail and high security applications.In 2016 I co-founded Prismade Labs (Printed Smart Devices) to develop a breakthrough approach for electronic identification based on recyclable, yet electronic features that seamlessly connect with smartphones. In 2018 Prismade became part of the edding group to build a global distribution of those new technologies under a strong brand. As co-CEO at Prismade, I was responsible for the strategic business and product development, strategic partnerships and sales, focusing on applications for secure and interactive documents.In 2021 the technology branched out into the blockchain world to secure valuable physical items like artworks, tickets and certificates. Blockchain provides digital ownership, while our technology secures and connects physical ownership. New applications are in development to this day.In July 2023 edding acquired Prismade Labs to focus on document security.After a short break, exploring new methods to grow food and bread recipes, building retro-arcades & nerding out with random things, it will be time for something new.
