After an incredible journey of 45 years in the dynamic world of hospitality and tourism, I am thrilled to announce my retirement from full-time employment. It has been an amazing ride filled with unforgettable experiences, growth, and lifelong connections. However, retirement doesn't mean I'm leaving the industry I'm so passionate about. In fact, I'm excited to share that I'm now open to taking on consulting assignments and short-term projects within the hospitality and tourism sector. Initially called upon to reposition the Marriot Islamabad as GM after the new government came inplace. The Hotel needed a fresh start and repolishing & repositioning on the international marketafter the 2008 bomb blast which had affected the hotel very much. Considerable growth inREVPAR, GOP and above all Guest Survey Satisfaction. After 1 ½ years moved to MarriottKarachi to implement the same changes which proved very successful in Islamabad. After 2 yearspromoted to Group General Manager Operations ( 2 Marriott & 7 Pearl Continental Hotels) at the Corporate office to assist all the hotel’s General Managers with their, KPI, strategies, projects and Operations to support the group in their expansions and overall growth strategies. In January 2021 promoted as Vice President Development, assisting the Hashoo Group Hospitality Division expanding their portfolio of Hotels including launching of the new brands being Pearl Residence and PC Legacy.

Initially director for the Abjar group for rebranding the Renaissance Deira to a managed Crown Plaza, followed by taking over the Ramada Dubai as GM and coordinating director for the opening of Ramada Jumeirah and in January 2012 Cluster General Manager for both properties

Took over the hotel after 5 years being run by the same GM.Managed to increase further the market share (leader) in spite of the financial crisis also creeping into the GCC. Finalised various long outstanding projects for the hotel and repositioned the hotel as a property with unique USP.

Responsible for bringing the Thai hospitality into Egyptand soft opening of the 203 room hotel in June 2008 while conceptualizing the further expansion of the hotel into a 437 Corporate and MICE hotel with resident apartments. Successfully opened the hotel in the New Cairo district

Member of leading hotels of the World and part of an integrated resort complex consisting of 5 hotels, a golf course and residential villas. Came on board after the tsunami to reposition and uplift the resort, conceptualising of 2 new restaurants, launching of 32 Club rooms and 28 Pool villas. Bringing back the resort and Phuket on the tourism map after the tsunami was the biggest challenge, yet 2006 and high season 2007 resulted in record-breaking figures. Transferred with promotion

Member of Leading Hotels of the World and considered by Conde Nast Traveller as the top Spa’s in Europe and top 100 Hotels of the World. Accepted the position to gain further experience in an exclusive Resort environment. Listed by Gallivanter’s guide (January 2005) as the first Spa resort in Europe and 5th best Worldwide Resort. Resigned as better opportunity came up

Member of the Leading Hotels of the World. (Achieved during my tenure) Most reputed hotel in Busan, Korea with extensive F&B facilities, competing with International Chain Hotels; Marriott, Westin, etc… Called upon to improve occupancy levels and GOP and to become more International recognized by corporate accounts after the hotel was extended with 270 rooms. Increased market share from 114 in 2000, to 116, 122 and 131 in 2001 to 2003 respectively. Improved number 1 market position and hosted successfully as headquarter hotel the FIFA 2002 World Cup Final draw and was nominated as Media hotel for the 2002 Asian Games. Host of the 2003 ICCA conference. (Was hired for 2 years to host the Asian Games and FIFA WorldCup and then extended for another year to make the hotel a Leading Hotel of the world)

Member of the Preferred Hotels of the World and Deluxe Collection of SRS Hotels. A hotel, which was under receivership since the inception (5 years ago) and called upon to restructure the entire in order to come out of receivership. Mission successfully completed, within 3 months the market-leader, but resigned, as no further future was forthcoming due to the political court-cases the hotel was implicated with

Member of the Leading Hotels of the World – A 25-year old hotel that needed restructuring on several aspects. Successfully completed with after one year an incremental G.O.P. of 15 %. Gain in market-share in a very competitive environment. A one-year contract that was negotiated prior, as owner did not want a National running the hotel

First man on board. Entirely responsible for the pre-opening and opening of the hotel. Overseeing contractors for finishing construction and complete fit out of the hotel. Hiring of the entire team to open the hotel in its full grandeur within the planned schedule, only 26 months after start of construction. Strategic planning and positioning of the hotel on a long-term basis. Negotiating accounts and loan pay back agreements. Successful marketing of the hotel in a most competitive environment. Conceptualizing of all outlets and departments. Sorting out of all teething problems in soft opening period. Managing the hotel and attending to the day-to-day operations. Left the company to settle-in my family back in Belgium in view of the children’s education.

Managed to turn around the profitability of the hotel after 7 years generating negative owners return. Exceeded profit plan, 2 years in a row, by over 35%. Repositioned the hotel as the leading hotel in the city with a fair market share double than the nearest competitor. Rewrote all set standards, policies and procedures to the market requirements and in function of the financial situation of the hotel. Emphasis on staff training, responsibility taking and aggressive selling techniques.

The most successful hotel in the city with a fair market share of over 200 % resulting from running the hotel as an oasis in the city. Fully responsible for the day-to-day operation and managing of the hotel. Extensively involved in the acquiring of 3 additional properties for the Hilton International group. (Hilton Maldives, Jaic Tower, Hilton Waskaduwa and the World Trade Center Colombo) Four years consecutive remarkable growth in hotel occupancy, average room rate and Profit before Interest & Tax.
