When I first arrived at college, I thought that I was interested in studying physical therapy and kinesiology and would then go on to help people recover or prevent their injuries. However, after two years I realize that I am more interested in social sciences, and most specifically, helping and understanding people. I learned that I enjoy helping every single community that doesn’t get equitable treatment comparable to others in our society. I’m interested in racial equity, women’s and children’s rights, and LGBTQ+ equality throughout the country. I believe that everyone should be treated fairly and should never feel uncomfortable in their own skin. Because of this belief and overall passion, I am currently pursuing a sociology degree at Tulane University with hopes of working in social work and starting programs that help bring together people of all different backgrounds. I believe this contribution will help create a more equitable and inclusive society.
