Al Salam Bank Bahrain is an Islamic bank engaged in retail, commercial and investment banking activities. While retail and commercial banking activities are primarily carried out in Bahrain, investment banking activities are carried out internationally. In this role, I was engaged in the business at both strategic level as well as operational level decision making. Member of Senior Management, Risk, Investment, ALCO, IT strategy and Product Development committees of the Bank. Successfully concluded several real estate transactions in the UK as well as structured such deals to meet international tax and Shari’a requirements. Managed acquisition due diligence of numerous transactions including real estate, private equity including aviation and mezzanine financing.Was responsible for the Bank’s risk management functions such as business, credit, investment, IT security and operations on a day to day basis. Overseen, multiple banking system implementations, upgrades, data migrations, rolling out of new mobile, internet and ATM applications while ensuring minimum customer disruption.Was responsible for ensuring seamless banking operations including ATM network, customer disputes, card frauds, key vendor contract negotiations, effective IT security environment and minimizing operational risk events.Actively participated in the acquisition of two local financial institutions by Al Salam during the time, from the valuation stage to the integration of the support Group to ensure seamless integration of people, systems, products and processes.

Investcorp is a premier investment bank based in the Middle East focusing on alternate asset management through private equity, real estate and hedge funds. The Bank operates through its offices in Bahrain, London and New York.During my tenure at Investcorp, responsible for preparing Group's consolidated financial statements (3 consolidations and 30 plus subsidiaries) which was considered as best in class in the Middle East and a principal contact for external auditors.Responsible for production of Group monthly management information within 5 business days in an accurate manner for the senior management consumption.Responsible for managing 1,000 plus investment holding companies including fund accounting dealing with external fund administrators based in Cayman Islands, Luxemburg, Jersey and Bahrain.Responsible for regulatory reporting and Basel II implementation at Investcorp.Co-led a system architecture team on an eighteen month project to select, customize, test and implement Treasury, ALM and private equity transaction systems at Investcorp. Used six sigma techniques as part of a process reengineering project that was conducted along with this system implementation. Managed and reported Group's investment exposures and coordinated with other offices to meet deadlines for various MIS and budget cycles.

Spent a significant portion of my career in multiple roles including external & internal audit, forensic audit, loan loss reviews, business valuations and consulting assignments including market surveys, and development of business strategies within the audit and advisory practices of Ernst & Young Bahrain and Sri Lanka. The industries I was involved during this period include financial services, airlines, hospitality, lottery management, manufacturing and Government entities.Conducted professional training programs for finance and accounting courses during my tenure at Ernst & Young Bahrain.
