  Dr. Namkoong is the director of Center for OASIS, operations analysis and supportive information system, at Korea Expressway Corporation. He has been working on Intelligent Transport Systems R&D since 1996 at the corporation. Dr. Namkoong received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Transportation Engineering in 1996 and 1990 respectively, and his B.S. degree in Urban Engineering in 1988, all from Hanyang University in Seoul , South Korea . Prior to working at the center, Dr. Namkoong was a research scientist in Smart Travel Laboratory at University of Virginia. He has held several distinguished positions including Professor in the Road Technology Graduate School at Korea Expressway Corporation, Lecturer at Hanyang University 's Graduate School of Environmental Studies and Adjunct professor at Ajou Univiersity’s Graduate School of ITS. He is the recipient of the 1998 President ' s Award (for Excellent Researcher) and the 2008 for Excellent research from the Korea Expressway Corporation.
