As the head of information technology, Janarthanan was leading an in-house technical team of 25 members managing the web applications (Angular, Java, PHP, and MySQL), Enterprise Applications (ERP and POS systems) and IT infrastructure (servers, storage, network and cloud-based services). He helped the organization save crores of rupees by optimizing the work force and operational process of different departments through re-engineering, automation, and productivity enhancement. In his tenure, he had mentored more than 100 freshers who joined the organization and trained them in Agile Methodologies, Scrum Framework, and RDBMS. He coordinated with top management, senior management, head of departments, functional teams and managers to help them achieve their respective goals (current and future) through better use of technology and IT services. He played a vital role in helping the organization adapt open source platforms, thereby reducing the commercial software license cost.

He was also inducted into the SQAG (Software Quality Assurance Group) of the organization and involved in Six Sigma Project Implementations.

In his brief period with Mindtree as an Associate Consultant Janarthanan worked on preparing training content and conducting training for the team members on the concepts of ETL and Informatica PowerCenter 5.1.2. He also worked on developing a process model for ETL projects and developed many proof of concepts to be submitted to the Knowledge Repository.

Janarthanan worked in Mascot Systems Pvt. Ltd. (a company later renamed as iGate Global Solutions and subsequently acquired by Capgemini in 2015) primarily in ETL and Data Quality Assurance for an Insurance and Reinsurance company acquired by GE Capital. The objective was to develop a Data Warehouse consolidating the data from OLTP systems and the legacy systems running in Mainframe. As part of the assignment he also worked in client office (located in Chicago) for 3 months for requirements study and documentation. He was awarded Star Performers Cash Award twice based on the recommendation from client appreciating his commitment to the project.
