I am sure you know soft contact lenses. But perhaps you are not aware that those were invented in that time Czechoslovakia by professor Otto Wichterle. His successor, Vladimir Stoy, has continued the research with hydrogels, and one of those, expansive Aquacryl, is something I am working with now. In Medicem, we produce thin dilators called DILAPAN-S, used for mechanical induction of labour (IOL). It does not contain any pharma agents, has no side effects, and does not need continuous CTG monitoring. Expectant mums can spend the cervical ripening time at home, sleep, walk and relax. Dilators are universal and suitable even for mums after cesarean section. At my role, I am helping to adapt IOL with DILAPAN-S to the daily antenatal and delivery units worldwide, having mums in mind. Same time, my role is to translate maternal needs to business plans and create effective digital presence of the product to support joined and qualified “patient” decision.Recently, we celebrate a huge success, having the dilators recommended by NICE Guidelines [NG207].
