My primary role, as Principal Vascular Technologist, was to provide training and educational support to the Neurology Fellows in Transcranial Doppler ultrasound testing. I served as a resource to hospital staff, physicians, technologists, patients and their families. Training of the Fellows included personal instruction on instrumentation, exam performance and study interpretations. Hands-on experience was provided. Clinical applications included: vasospasm assessment in the subarachnoid hemorrhage setting, emboli detection, patent foramen ovale assessment, intracranial stenosis, vasomotor reactivity, brain death and sickle cell disease. In addition, I performed a full-range of noninvasive vascular ultrasound exams offered by the Vascular Laboratory, including inpatient and outpatient testing, as well as intraoperative ultrasound. Special projects included working with Xenon-133 for the assessment of regional cerebral blood flow, utilizing the Cerebrograph Cortexplorer-16. Power Point presentations were provided to the NICU nursing and physical therapy staffs. I have been published in two medical journals to include: Journal of Neurocritical Care and Journal of Clinical Neuroscience.

Performed a variety of vascular ultrasound tests on patients to included carotid ultrasounds, peripheral arterial segmental Doppler and arterial duplex imaging examinations, venous ultrasound exams to rule out deep venous thrombosis, and pre- & post-operative assessment for venous insufficiency. Other examinations include assessment of dialysis grafts, abdominal aortic and arterial aneurysmal assessment with ultrasound. Patient reports and interpretations were created, provided to the physician and maintained in the electronic medical record database. Thorough history and patient physical exams were conducted prior to all ultrasound examinations.A positive rapport was established with all staff, patients and vendors with excellent customer service skills.
