I have over 22 years of experience in the arts, managing an art gallery from its inception in 2001 through its move to Miami from Dallas in 2006. With my degree in cultural anthropology, I have developed a unique approach to the visual arts, seeing myself as an interpreter of what the artist is trying to convey about their culture to an international audience. I try to frame their stories and translate their vision through thoughtful curation. Collaboration with both the artist and viewer is my dual perspective.Through my tenure, I took on all roles in the running of a commercial gallery, including inventory management and archiving of over 1,000 works owned by the gallery in addition to the consigned works from our represented artists. As the director, I placed our artists’ works in important collections, such as the Tate Modern in London, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the Daros Collection in Zurich and the National Bank of Colombia, to name a few. I coordinated and curated groundbreaking exhibitions of important Latin American artists both at our gallery space and at national and international art fairs, coordinated the loan of works to museums and collections, and was the principal contact with our clients and collectors.
