    Brussels Area, Belgium
Research in finite geometry and related topics. Further development of the software package FinInG (http://cage.ugent.be/fining). Cooperation with colleagues from University of St. Andrews to further develop algorithms for HPC-GAP. Restricted teaching duties.
  • Research Foundation Flanders - Fwo
    Postdoctoral Fellow
Research Foundation Flanders - Fwo Oct 2009 - Sep 2015
My research still focusses on topics in finite geometry. During this fellowship, I will investigate in detail algebraic techniques to study direction problems in affine and projective spaces. The final aim to obtain new results on substructures of polar spaces applying the results in affine and projective spaces.

    Lecturer (10%)
Vrije Universiteit Brussel Oct 2012 - Sep 2014
    Brussels Area, Belgium
On a temporary contract base, I have been teaching linear algebra (2012-2013) and mathematical analysis (2013-2014).

My research focusses on topics in finite geometry. Finite Geometry is a field of mathematics. In finite geometry, geometrical structures with a finite number of objects are studied. Combinatorial, algebraic and group theoretic techniques are used. Finite geometry has applications in coding theory (the theory of error detecting and correcting codes used for transmission of data), and cryptography. Finite geometry is s subfield of discrete mathematics and related to graph theory, design theory… Show more My research focusses on topics in finite geometry. Intersting cooperation with authorities in the field of finite geometry leads to the use of more algebraic techniques. This period of full time research is reduced to almost zero in the period that I work as a policy advisor of the Research Foundation Flanders (Belgium). Show less
