Born in 1957, Jan is a proud boomer deeply immersed in electronic engineering and computer science since the 1970s.Early Days: In his youth, Jan's curiosity led him to construct projects from a Dutch electronics magazine called Elektuur. During the '70s, Jan primarily focused on studying electronic engineering. However, he transitioned to computer science in the '80s. Picture this: in 1980, Jan's first encounter with programming involved solving quadratic equations with ALGOL 68 on an IBM mainframe boasting a whopping 64k of "core memory." Programming back then meant grappling with punched cards—a concept that might seem antiquated today.Career: Jan's professional journey took him from electronics engineer to software project manager and eventually Chief Information Officer. However, around 2013, he pivoted from the IT hustle to delve into the softer side of management and leadership. Despite this shift, Jan's passion for technology never waned, and he diligently kept up with developments from the sidelines.Fast forward through the tech revolution—while fundamental hardware principles remained constant, the software landscape underwent a wild transformation. As hardware capabilities expanded, layers of complexity were added, ushering in the era of the Internet, cloud computing, IoT, AI, and robotics.RoboClassOnline: After retiring from the corporate world, Jan returned to his childhood passion for electronics and discovered the world of robotics.
