AgriFutures Australia is one of 15 Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) that service the Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) needs of Australian rural industries. My role is responsible for identifying and responding to emerging national challenges and opportunities which impact the Australian agricultural sector. I engage with the global agrifood innovation stakeholders to deliver programs that will future-proof Australian rural industries and ensure Australia is a leader in accessing, adopting, developing and exporting agrifood technologies and innovation.I am responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships with senior officials at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), National Farmers’ Federation (NFF), all research and development organisations (RDCs), to identify and address national rural sector challenges and opportunities through collaborative research and development projects.I have been the project lead on the following collaborative projects: Alternative energy for Australian agriculture, the diesel transition Anaerobic digester trials - Sustainability Victoria grant, Global outlook for on-farm inputs, First Nations perspective in agriculture, Environment and social lending, Carbon tax at border for Australian agriculture
Smart Cities Project Manager
Key projects:- Cooling the City Sensor program. Outcomes: Installation of mirco-climate sensors and development of dashboard to access data. Data revealed the most effective cooling intervention to assist with future decision making.- Testbed 1: Argyle Square - A space to trial emerging technologies including 5G and IoT. Outcomes: Successfully launched a testbed focusing on tech and human centred design to create a positive future for Melbourne. This involved almost 30 external partners including Amazon Web Services, Telstra, RMIT, Uni Melb, Phoria and Meshed.- Data in the Park - Argyle Square. Outcomes: Creation of a digital twin. Installation of devices including micro-climate sensors, motion sensors and pedestrian counters to capture and deliver data. Establishment of a visual dashboard.- Emerging Technology Testbed - Reimagining the City Challenge – We asked entrepreneurs, individuals, universities, researchers, startups and established organisations to pitches ideas on how they might contribute to bringing life back into the city.- Argyle Square Digital Twin

The Smart City Office was created in 2015 to drive Melbourne’s data-led vision and culture and unite skilled citizens to facilitate the future for the people and the city.
