About Jane Allen
A Project Manager and highly experienced event management planner with a broad career, of which 38 years were spent serving simultaneously as a Royal Naval Reservist, reaching the rank of Commander. I have worked with large civil authorities such as Devon and Cornwall Police and HM Courts Service to deliver major change programmes relating to digital investment and organisational restructure. Naval highlights include the design and implementation of a year-long programme of centenary celebrations, working with veterans and twice being appointed equerry to HRH Prince Michael of Kent. With a strong affinity for the charity sector, I have raised money and awareness either through my roles in the Royal Navy or through personal projects: in 2007 I walked 1,200 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End. Later, in 2019 I completed my Victory Walk - another solo charity trek of 5,495 miles around the coast of mainland Great Britain. Currently a Board Member for the Wessex Reserve Forces' and Cadets’ Association and I continue to volunteer with the NHS Devon Vaccination Programme.

Victory WalkerVictory Walk Oct 2017 - Sep 2019To mark retirement from Royal Naval Reserve and the 2017 Centenary year of women's service in the Royal Navy, undertook a solo anti-clockwise charity walk around the coast of mainland Britain. Started and finished at HMS Victory, Portsmouth, taking slightly longer than planned: final mileage was 5,495. The aim was to raise awareness and funds for two important Naval charities - the Women's Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.

Throughout the centenary year, kept oversight on 110+ events, branding and corporate messaging. Also heavily involved at key events held at National Museum of the Royal Navy, Old Royal Naval College Greenwich, Portsmouth Cathedral, plus final event at the Houses of Parliament for 100 serving naval women and veterans. Worked concurrently on this Project and my other full-time Naval job(s).

Worked with communications specialists drawn from senior military, political and diplomatic organisations, working collectively on strategic messaging. A notable media responsibility was to plan and escort 30 assorted journalists accompanying Prime Minister Cameron when he flew in for a special meeting at the Presidential Palace. -

First year of appointment was done concurrently alongside Project Manager role at HM Courts Service.

Following a business change review, worked in collaboration with D & C Police, court teams, multi-agencies and other stakeholders implementing new system infrastructure. Also data cleansed 46,000 accounts and had oversight of training for 400+ end users. Managed responsibility for safety, security and compliance of this project, parallel managing over 5,000 live case accounts, financial control for court income and associated caseload records. -
Career Break - Solo Charity Walk (Jane'S Jogle)Royal British Legion Apr 2007 - Jul 2007On return from Iraq in December 2006, decided to fulfil a lifelong ambition of walking solo from John o' Groats to Land's End, raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. A self-financed event that was researched, planned, coordinated, trained-for and walked. Not being superstitious, left JoG on Friday 13th April in sunshine eventually arriving at Land's End in howling gales on Friday 13th July! Yomped 1,200 miles, raising £10 per mile. -
Senior Military Media Advisor - Baghdad, IraqNato May 2006 - Dec 2006BaghdadAs a Royal Naval Reservist, mobilised in the role of Media Adviser to the senior Commander of British Forces and second in command all Coalition Forces. Worked alongside Iraqi and international media, escorting them on pre-planned trips. Another part of the role was to work at a strategic level with senior Iraqi political, military and civilian organisations. Shortly before optour ended, initiated, planned and escorted ten senior military and civilian Iraqi spokespersons to the UK for a week's visit to major HM Government departments.

Left this appointment on being mobilised for active service in Baghdad, Iraq.

During ten years with the Force was responsible for delivering a big business change project - 6 Criminal Justice Units were reduced to 3. Concurrently, all paper case files were computerised which entailed a bespoke system being developed. Other projects included working on Command & Control (999) system and managed a firearms data migration project: moved 65,000 records to a new mandated Firearms system which went in on time and to budget.
