I have a Master’s Degree in School Counselling from the University of Dayton and have worked for almost 20 years in various academic advising and admissions-related roles. I worked for one year as a college registrar, several years as Associate Director for Program Compliance/Adult Education for the State of Illinois, and currently as a Program Consultant for the State Board of Education in the GATA Department designing Federal and State Grants.For 15 years I was an academic advisor at Belmont where I served as North Center Coordinator overseeing operations at the North Center Campus in Cadiz, Ohio. Part of this position required supervising the office staff, creating a unified course schedule for the campus which complimented the course offerings at the main campus, and working closely with personnel at the main campus to assign faculty to courses taught at North Center. As an academic advisor, I provided traditional, non-traditional, distance education, and transfer students with academic counseling. This included helping students map their courses at Belmont in a way that they would graduate in a timely manner and with the courses needed to further their educational or career goals with respect to job placement or transfer to a four-year school.For over 10 years I worked closely with the Ohio Board of Regents in making Belmont courses TAG/CTAG/OTM compliant. I was also the college’s liaison for the SCTAI (Secondary Career Technical Alignment Initiative) and the college’s representative to the Ohio Transfer Advisory Council. I was solely responsible for all transfer and articulation agreements and coordinating the visits of college representatives. In these roles I routinely helped multiple department chairs with transcript evaluation and assist various deans and records office personnel with confirming a student’s graduation compliance. This also included aiding the Financial Aid Department with compliance review with respect to a student’s course needs and eligibility for various avenues of financial assistance.
