Owner
Whilst Living in Cabarete I continued to work as a Qualified and experienced english speaking Business and Life Coach. Owner, Master Scuba Diving Instructor And General Manager
This was a bucket list item...after travelling and working in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the United Arab Emirates I bought a SCUBA Diving business on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. As with any small business, you can have a fancy title but the reality was that if there was something that needed doing in the office or marketing or selling or legal or cleaning or problem solving then I did it as well as getting to go diving. I am very proud of how I turned the business around from a failing one to a very successful one, This included relocating the dive base and navigating the challenging business climate in the DR. Right from the beginning the business started receiving amazing reviews on TripAdvisor and I was delighted when we achieved a Certificate of Excellence in 2013 and then again in 2014. When family circumstances meant I had to return home in September 2014, I was able to sell the business and I am very proud to see that it continues to operate from the same premises and continues to achieved TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence.
Drama Teacher
At the same time as running the dive business and my own coaching business I was invited to work part-time at the International School. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with young people (ages 10 to 18) who came from over 26 different nationalities. My main goal was to help the students develop in confidence, build their presenting skills and learn to work together effectively. I managed all this and along the way we had loads of fun, including writing and directing 2 very successful Christmas shows for the whole school (ages 2 to 18). choreographing a Christmas dance to Gangnam Style and directing 2 plays performed at the National Drama Festival in the capital, Santo Domingo.
Career Break
I took my gap year later in life and spent over a year travelling and enjoying different cultures. During this time I completed the PADI Dive Master Course and then went on to become a PADI SCUBA diving Instructor. I taught SCUBA diving in Thailand, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.
