President and founder of Thompson Biotechnology Group. We offer private consulting services to biotech investors as well as scientific and medical consulting to academia, biotechnology companies and the legal and pharmaceutical industries in areas such as: cancer research, drug development, medical device development, diagnostics and in environmental medicine, toxicology and carcinogenesis. On the business side we assist biotech companies in investment relations, IP assessment and development (patents), venture, angel or bridge financing as well as in business plan reorganization. We offer assistance in biotechnology transfer from academia to industry. We also invest in biotech on the sell side. Our goal is to assist both academia and biotech in translating bench discovery into clinical application.

Principal Investigator and Director of Molecular Photogenotoxicology and Carcinogenesis at The American Health Foundation (a/k/a Institute for Cancer Prevention). I created the research laboratory for the study of photogenotoxicity and photocarcinogenesis. I developed the laboratory research projects, designed all experimental protocols, designed and built laboratory equipment, authored grant proposals, presented research findings at scientific and medical conferences,, refereed manuscripts for peer- reviewed journals and coordinated my research with collaborative laboratories both outside and within the institute. I also supervised studies within the In Vitro Toxicology Laboratory for our contract research division at the institute and supervised technicians and Postdoctoral Fellows. I coordinated my research data with animal and clinical data obtained from Bayer Pharmaceutical on the fluoroquinolone antibiotics and designed new drugs for development and marketing. Specifically I designed a new generation fluoroquinolone called “Avelox” for Bayer AG that was FDA approved and proved to be the first photostable fluroquinolone on the market. I authored and published scientific data in several reputable peer-reviewed journals.
