After I earned my first four year LLB degree from the Peking University Law School I worked in the legal field in China as a draftsperson of the Legislative Affairs Commission at the PRC National People's Congress Standing Committee for 8 years in Beijing. With other law degrees I earned later in Australia (LLB Macquarie University, LLM University of Canberra, PhD (in Company Law) The University of New South Wales), I have had more than two decades of work experice in Australia (ACT, NSW and Victoria) as Tutor in Law, Legal Research Officer, Lecturer in Law, Senior Lecturer in Law, and Australian Lawyer). I have very sound and strong expertise in Chinese law and Australian law in both theory and practice. In the early 1990s I was a visitor and trainee at the City University of HK Law School and Baker & MaKenzie's HK Office for 9 months. During the 2000s and 2010s, I had been an academic visitor at Oriel College and the Faculty of Law of the University of Oxford for 4 months , the UC Berkeley Law School for 8 months, and the Peking University Law School for 6 months. I also gave a number of seminars and/or guest lectures at these prominent university law schools, as well as the Harvard Law School, the University of Columbia Law School, and China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL)。 I was an Adjunct Associate Professor of the CUPL for some years in the 1990s. I have established and maintain my strong academic and personal connections with many lead Chinese commercial law professors and lawyers located in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Jinan, Xi'an, Chengdu, HK, Macau etc and some American, British and South African law academics and practitioners. I am the Founder and Director for the Australian Centre/Insitute for Chinese and Comparative Law which is located in Melbourne. Currently I am also on the Panel of Arbitrators of CIETAC (China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission), BAC (Beijing Arbitration Commission) and Jinan arbitration Commission. I have strong interests and expertise particularly from the comparative perspective in theoretical and practical matters with regards to commercial laws and legal systems of Civil Law and Common Law.
