About Jane Healy

Lecturing, researching, networking... Currently Programme Lead for the MA Criminology and Criminal Justice, formerly Deputy Head, in Social Sciences at BU, and generally enjoying engaging across Criminology, Sociology and Social Anthropology programmes. Teaching Terrorism, Hate Crimes and Intersectionality. Completed my PhD at Middlesex University where I also taught criminology, sociology and forensic psychology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My thesis explored victim experiences of disability hate crimes, and the response to this by the criminal justice system and other supporting agencies. It involved focus groups, narrative and semi-structured interviews and an e-survey with disabled people, victims of hate crime, stakeholders and other relevant parties within the criminal justice field. Voluntary independent panel member for CPS Wessex Hate Crime Panel and the Dorset PCC and Chair of the CPS Wessex Modern Slavery Panel.
