I am responsible for managing a range of river restoration projects within North Essex and East Suffolk. This includes a project called Topsoil which aims to improve soil management and investigate how this impacts on groundwater. This will involve looking into changes in land management to ensure groundwater is recharged with better quality water that can then be utilised as drinking water, irrigation for arable land and also to recharge rivers during low flows to improve habitat and water quality. I will be working in partnership with Essex and Suffolk water and other partners to achieve these aims as well as the many European partners involved in the Topsoil Project. This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.I will also manage various river restoration projects in the East Suffolk Catchment Partnership and also the Colne Catchment in Essex.Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust in the lead group within the East Suffolk Catchment Partnership so my involvement in this partnership will be significant. I will also represent Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust at the Combined Essex (Essex Rivers Hub) Catchment Partnership.

I work within South Essex on river based projects that will help improve water quality and natural habitats. This role involves working closely with the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and also local people.

I worked on the National Character Areas (NCA) project for Natural England. I was responsible for producing a comprehensive document on the character and possible future changes of the character for the Northern Thames Basin Region of England.This involved researching and collating the necessary data and information to populate this document which is now available on Natural England's website.

I worked within the Conservation Team carrying out various species and habitats surveys and using this information to determine the success of existing projects, the status of various protected species and to determine where improvements to habitats are necessary to stop deterioration of exist habitats and species populations.I was also involved in many practical projects including recreating a heathland, eliminating the invasive species Himalayan Balsam from a river catchment and removal of Chery Laurel (another invasive species) from a Local Wildlife Site Woodland.I used GIS and practical surveying skills to collect and record data for these and many other projects.
