I have practised in projects, procurement, infrastructure and government advisory for my entire career and have seen how technology, procurement models, economic changes and even election results impact on the way in which supplies, services, buildings and infrastructure are delivered. There is always something new to learn. One of the first projects I worked on was Federation Square, an iconic and award winning piece of civic infrastructure in the centre of Melbourne which was completed in 2002. I enjoy the ‘cradle to grave’ aspect of project work: from structuring a tender process, preparing the contract documentation to negotiating the contract, providing contract administration advice and finally helping clients to manage and resolve any disputes. It is satisfying to see the efficiencies a client can gain by considered risk allocation and careful planning being reflected in delivery documents. I have helped many clients develop bespoke suites of construction, supply and consultancy agreements. I work on electricity, transport, major capital works, renewable energy, residential development, commercial fitouts, and everything in between, advising government agencies, developers and principals on how to best achieve their project objectives.
