Its all centered around the food. It matters what we eat. Food not only nourishes our bodies but also our souls. The dining table is a sacred space to share and create memories with our community; be it one's family, neighbors, co-workers and friends. This is why I co-Founded and am the Executive Director of Hapi Foundation, (Healthy Apartment Property Initiative) a 501C3 non-profit founded in 2013, that “builds community through health” by bringing gardening, cooking, nutrition, health-related education and fitness programs directly to the doorsteps of residents living in lower income apartment communities. Hapi’s goal is to help combat social isolation by bringing people together and focusing on reducing the growing rates of chronic diseasesHAPI determines where to offer its programming based on relationships with Apartment owners. Once a community is selected, HAPI collaborates with local non-profit service agencies to provide specific need based programming based on each individual communities wishes and goals. Over the years HAPI's partnerships have expanded its services including support with mental health counseling, after school programs, adult literacy, food insecurity, lack of transportation to name a few.Prior to founding and running Hapi full time, I worked in real estate development, operations and management and owned and managed a worldwide product manufacturing and wholesale distribution company in the photo industry. One of my most accomplished and rewarding "jobs" is being a wife and mother to our two daughters and two labradoodles.
