I began my career as a Title I reading teacher at Cory-Rawson Local Schools in 1973. After three years of teaching Grades 1-4 reading, I taught fifth and sixth grade language arts for eight years and seventh and eighth grade science for thirteen years. In 1996, I advanced to the Hancock County Educational Service Center as a curriculum supervisor and became the Director of Curriculum in 2005.

Middle School Science TeacherCory-Rawson Local Schools Sep 1973 - Jun 1996- Co-developed a highly successful inter-county language arts enrichment program, The Cory-Rawson English Festival, for students in grades 5-8. The program served up to 300 students. Responsibilities included: generating funds from local corporations; coordinating publicity with television and newspapers; assisting in the design and production of over 3,000 informational brochures; and coordinating a staff of over 50 volunteers. - Received grant funding for approximately $26,000 from such prestigious organizations as the Ohio Arts council, The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, the L. Dale Dorney Fund, and Ohio State University. - Compiled a bound book of outdoor education learning activities for the Ohio State University Science Teaching Partnership Project. - Successfully conducted presentations for BGSU and Miami University, and for the state conventions of the Buckeye Association of Superintendents and Administrators, the Ohio Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts, the Martha Holden Jennings Conference, the National Center for Science Teaching and Learning, SECO, and the Northwest Ohio Educational Technology Foundation. - Conducted a needs assessment and implemented a plan of action for the improvement of science education at Cory-Rawson. - Created stimulating lessons for 130 students each year during teacher career of 24 years.
