About Jane Meseck

I gotta update this... But not right now. :-)Two decades ago, I started at Microsoft as a program manager, shipping pallets of boxes of Windows to nonprofits. Now we donate more than a billion dollars a year in grants, product donations, cloud services and employee matching in 230 markets around the world. That evolution has required dedication, strategy and an eye to the business benefits of philanthropy—and I have been there every step of the way.I do this work to empower nonprofits, communities and Microsoft employees to transform the world. It sounds audacious, but because of Microsoft’s scope of influence we can actually execute these far-reaching plans. At its core, my work comes down to relationships. I have partnered with some of the same nonprofit leaders for twenty years, and the trust I have built means something. I have been a fixture in the nonprofit tech segment, helping to create NTEN.org and growing a supportive community of nonprofit tech geeks, accelerating TechSoup's growth as the premier global online nonprofit resource. I have led the development of Microsoft Philanthropies' new Humanitarian Action initiative to help those communities impacted by crisis to respond and rebuild. I have sat down with families in refugee camps seeking a better life and understood that this—this—proves that my work makes a difference. Most recently, my role expanded to cover the UN world, leading partnership development across the many agencies focused on humanitarian action. Super honored to receive NTEN's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.Outside of work I serve on USA for UNHCR & GlobalWa board of directors, Tent Business Council, American Red Cross Corporate Advisory Council and volunteer at Seattle Humane. I spend long hours watching my son pole vaulting (he goes high). Xhiggy the Catahoula forces me to jog along beautiful Lake WA. Let's talk nonprofit digital transformation, humanitarian action, or corporate giving. Specialties: Tech for good, nonprofit tech, humanitarian aid, philanthropy, CSR

Tech for Social Impact was a dream of mine for many years - harnessing Microsoft's innovation, products, business models and partner ecosystem to exponentially scale our support of nonprofit and humanitarian organizations to pursue their mission and accelerate social impact. I jumped at the opportunity to join the executive team of TSI to create this new social business model, contributing in the development of business models, partnerships and programs that combined mission and margin and scaled Microsoft's ability to reach more nonprofits across the world. I also led Microsoft Philanthropies' strategies and programs in the areas of Tech for Social Impact and Humanitarian Action, including cross-sector partnerships with global humanitarian nonprofits and UN agencies.
