About Jane Messer

I am a fiction and nonfiction writer, teacher and writing mentor. I've worked with national and state organisations including the Australian Society of Authors; University of Hong Kong's Faculty of Arts, MFA program; and Varuna National Writers' House. I have had extensive teaching and research experience drawn from working in universities in Australia, Germany and the USA for over twenty years, including Macquarie University; University of Technology, Sydney; and The Johns Hopkins University. I was Course Director of the Master of Creative Writing for over 15 years, Faculty of Arts, Macquarie University. My success in curriculum design and support of student learning has been recognised by Faculty, University and national (Office of Learning and Teaching) citations. of Creative Writing (2004-2021), and founded The Quarry, the Faculty of Arts' ejournal of student creative writing. I am a former judge of the Australian Vogel Literary Award and former board member of the Australian Society of Authors.
