As a corporate tax consultant at Grant Thornton my primary work was in relation to restructuring and refinancing. In particular preparation of memorandums and step-plans concerning mergers, demergers and share exchange.

As a Tax Manager in DONG Energy’s Group Tax department I was a part of the team responsible for the tax returns and the annual report for the group consisting of a joint taxation of more than 100 companies. At DONG Energy A/S I was working with DONG Energy’s investment department, where my main responsibility was to review potential investments for unintended tax consequences before the investment were presented to the investment committee for final approval. Furthermore, I was responsible for the taxable treatment of the corporation’s distribution of dividends, the taxable treatment of the corporation’s research and experimental plants as well as making sure that the contracts entered by DONG Energy A/S would not have any unintended tax consequences. As a Tax Manager in DONG Energy A/S I prepared memorandums for management and to the group's finance departments describing the group’s tax positions and policies and implementing these within the group. Working as a Tax Manager at DONG Energy A/S has taught me the ability to manage a long process, where many different occupational groups and nationalities have to work together on a common project. Furthermore, I have developed the ability to communicate complex tax issues to people not working with tax law on a daily basis.

As a corporate tax consultant at Ernst & Young my primary work was in relation to restructuring, due diligence, founding of branches, refinancing, permanent establishment analyses and requesting for a binding ruling with the Danish tax authorities. I have worked on restructuring cases concerning some of the largest Danish, American, German and Japanese corporations. In most of these cases our job was to make sure, that the restructuring was tax-exempted in Denmark and that the corporation would not lose any tax losses carried forward, and to produce a step-plan over the corporate tax and corporate law documents to be filed with the Commerce & Companies Agency and the Danish tax authorities. I have worked with cases concerning withholding tax on interest, royalty and dividends and in this respect I have experience in analyzing the relevant double taxation treaties and preparing the document that must be filed with the Danish tax authorities.
