I am a Chartered Member of the IPD with 35 years of working life in Human Resources within unionised and non-unionised industry. This included from 2015 to 2019 working with my own (now dissolved) HR Company, ReadyHR Limited. Recently retired, I now undertake freelance assignments as an HR Consultant in both the private and public / voluntary sector. With previous extensive experience in senior HR Business Partner roles and proven abilities to deliver as the lead in outputs that encompass key strategic guidance, I became a skilled and professional Employee Relations Specialist, used to dealing with high volume, complex ER caseload, managed through to settlement or tribunal where required. A credible operator with previous experience in a variety of roles comprising operational, field and support functions in retail, service, manufacturing, and distribution sectors.I’m able to design and deliver training courses, coach, and upskill managers and employee representatives to achieve the practical application of policy and procedure. In the private sector most recently I’ve been working with Network Rail on their Infrastructure Monitoring strategy to radically change the way they collect, analyse and share data on their infrastructure assets, identifying safety defects, in response to employee fatalities in 2019 and 2021.In the public / voluntary sector my work has developed from a strong background in employer-led Diversity & Inclusion strategy, becoming an Ally and member of several communities, driving change in the working environment on race, culture, LGBTQ+ and trans awareness. I now utilise these skills in the voluntary and Community Interest sector; namely as a Group Workshop Facilitator for the court mandated CAFCASS programme, Planning Together for Children, a child-centred course for separating parents, via the North Staffordshire YMCA and providing paid HR Consultancy for Expert Citizens, where I am also excited to be a non-executive Director. I have always had strong community-based interests, often finding ways through my employed position to support organisations in the local community; usually centred around employment support for ex-offenders, those with disability, mental health struggles, and long-term unemployment.
