Deputy Head Teacher
CurrentI was asked to apply for the role of Deputy Head as a result of my outstanding teaching and leadership during my time as class teacher in Year 6. I now manage an outstanding team of 20 staff including completing their performance management; I lead CPD across the school and coach/mentor other colleagues - including those who are leaders; I am responsible for the safeguarding of 200 pupils; I am responsible for outstanding provision for children with SEND adhering to the SEND Code of Practice and using the SEND budget (I achieved the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators in 2018); I am responsible for the implementation and impact of provision for Pupil Premium children using the Pupil Premium budget; I am responsible for the inclusive provision for Gifted and Talented children; I liaise with Local Authority colleagues to access their specialisms in order to continuously improve the provision for our pupils; I am responsible for good outcomes in Early Years, Key Stages 1 and 2; I am responsible for mentoring our 2 Early Career Teachers to ensure their induction and subsequent practice is outstanding; I have to keep up to date with the latest developments in education; I have taught across the primary age range and currently teach Year 5 (2.5 days a week); I work in partnership with parents to better effect outstanding provision for their children; I work with, and report to, governors in order to continuously move our school forward; I recruit and induct new teachers and other staff members when needed; I mentor the student teachers we regularly have in school (usually 3 a year); I project manage ongoing improvement initiatives in order to successfully implement them in our school eg. East Sussex Quality Mark for Inclusion and Skills Builder.
