I've been an artist since I was old enough to hold a crayon. My mom used to tell me stories of how I would draw people and animals at a very young age, which continued into my adult life. I've always loved drawing people, nature, animals, then evolved into more of the commercial art world, designing logos for bands (unbeknownst to them) and for friend's and family's businesses.I became a floral designer at 16 which opened up another realm of artistic abilities. I could create 3D art, and I fell in love with it. Every flower was it's own unique addition to my canvas; I could manipulate and blend them to create individual art pieces. I still enjoy designing arrangements and nurturing plants, and hope to someday have my own cut flower garden so I can enjoy the fruits of my labor. To further expand my passion of the arts, I went back to school in my mid-thirties, with the focus being the commercial art side. I took photography classes which then sparked another interest, Photoshop. I loved being able to manipulate pixels and explore the vastness of what I could do to enhance an image. The possibilities are endless and I learn something new and exciting every day, which is why I still love what I currently do for a living. Being an Image Editor is mentally challenging; each image that I open is different than the previous, which keeps me from becoming bored. In a leadership role, I get to share my knowledge with my peers, as well as learn from them. I want to continue to evolve my skills and flex my Photoshop muscles to become the best editor I can, for myself as well as my company. Each job I've had contributes to my ability to educate and mentor my peers to think outside the box and give them insight on my approach when I open an image. I want them to be excited and appreciate how valuable a skill they have so they want to do their best. I think it's important to give them the freedom of self-expression, but to tailor that to the business wants and needs. Every individual is as unique as the image they work on and will have a different approach, which is why I also encourage our team to share techniques with each other. The stronger the individual is in their knowledge of Photoshop, the stronger the team is as a whole, which benefits the company as a whole. I look forward to what the future brings!
