I am passionate about the importance, the necessary importance, of genuine connection. I mean eye to eye contact. How many people do that these days??? I went into Starbucks this morning (11ish) and there was a long line. Every single person in front of me was looking down and not thinking about their shoes. They were engaged w/ their little toy, their game, the iphone. No contact w/ another person was to be seen. I swear. I then looked at the tables/booths and everyone was looking.............yep...............that's right. There was one person who was w/o a computer, laptop, phone (in site anyway) and she was leafing through a book, a real book, not a Kindle. A book that takes a second to actually involve yourself w/ turning the page. I know that is challenging but she seemed to be managing just fine. She was studying the "old fashioned" way. I thought that was interesting. I didn't comment to her about it as I didn't want to interrupt. I don't have a cell phone, my friends are pissed about that. Oh well.
