Higher education policy expert and experienced campaigner with a history of leading democratic, campaigning and engagement work to empower students and young people in making change. I accidentally fell into Students’ Union and discovered that working with young people and students to help them deliver impactful campaigns and projects for change is what drives me. Since then I’ve run multiple training weekends, providing large groups of young people and students with skills in politics, communication, policy development and campaigning strategies. I’ve worked with elected Officers on developing their campaign plans and giving them the skills to do their roles. I have experience in designing training programme and delivering them, including being a Facilitator for the NUS Charity Lead and Change Programme. I am skilled in strategic planning, management, policy analysis and leadership. My focus is in empowering students and young people to develop their skills to create change and fostering cultures of sustainable change. Currently I am the Senior Voice Coordinator at the University of Birmingham Guild of Students where I am utilising my experience to enhance our democratic systems, build strong community organising campaigns and develop our engagement with a wide range of student and researcher cohorts. I lead a team of core staff and student staff and volunteers to drive student representation and engagement in voice activities. I have a proven track record of strong collaboration with stakeholders, developing relationships within the University and City of Birmingham to enhance the delivery of our engagement work. Throughout my career I have taken on various leadership positions, first as an elected student leader at York’s Graduate Students Association and as a political leader within the Youth and Student Wing of the Green Party. In these roles I’ve advocated for those I represent and provide leadership to large networks of campaigners. I’ve provided small dedicated teams with strategic oversight and guidance to deliver on large ambitious projects. My background also includes experience in providing welfare support and guidance, along with my role as the Young Greens Safeguarding Officer.I am dedicated to driving positive change within educational institutions and fostering an inclusive and empowering environment for campaigners and activists.
