Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide was a global hotelier and leisure company. They operated in over 100 countries with 180,400 employees worldwide. They were an owner, operator and franchisor of some of the world’s leading hotel brands like Sheraton, St Regis and Le Meridien And were acquired by Marriott in 2016.I was responsible for the strategic leadership of the HR function for Europe, Africa and Middle East at Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Leading a team of five Regional HR Directors, as well as the People Development and Staffing functions at a Divisional level, my role was a HR Business partner to the EAME Leadership team, providing thought leadership across the HR disciplines and ensuring delivery of the highest quality of HR services across all 250 hotels in the Division.

I joined Sheraton Sydney Airport Hotel as HR Director one year after opening and played an instrumental role in developing a holistic multiskilling culture throughout the organisation. Additionally, the development of an empowerment program, utilising MBTI to create self managing teams, lead to the hotel winning the ITT Ring of Quality Award in 1994.
