A Studio Called Jane is the creative outfit of Manchester-based designer and illustrator,Jane Bowyer. Jane is where play meets purpose, meaning meets impact, craft meetsgraft and, you get the idea.

I am an independent graphic designer and illustrator specialising in print design, art direction, branding and digital design. My practice balances playfulness with purpose to deliver work that is both beautifully crafted and leaves a lasting impression. After being the Senior Designer at Raw Design Studio, I began working independently for private clients and design agencies as a freelance designer. Working on creative projects for clients from a range of industries and disciplines, my focus is to make effective, thoughtful work that has a positive impact on the client and end user. I am supported by a network of talented collaborators and suppliers, who help me to deliver the best work possible from concept to production.For a long time, I have had an interest in social causes, aiming to use my skills as a designer and storyteller to inform and provoke peoples' thoughts and actions. In my own time, I have run workshops with young women on the representation of women in online and offline media and have worked on several personal and commercial projects for causes I feel passionately about.

Raw is a multidisciplinary studio with a strong background in campaign, branding and print work. As the Senior Designer I’ve delivered a high standard of design for digital, campaign, motion and branding projects for a diverse range of clients. I’ve been responsible for a small team of designers. I lead our intern selection process and managed the professional and personal development of students and graduates during their internship with us. Being part of a small team has allowed me to have a very client facing role. I have experience working and consulting closely with clients on the creative direction of projects. I work in close partnership with project managers, developers and freelance or commissioned partners (app developers, illustrators, animators) to make sure we deliver our best work from conception to completion.At Raw I’ve worked predominately on digital projects including web design, app game design and UX planning. Most recently I have completed a sexual health app game that teaches young adults about contraception and making smart choices about their sexual health. I have good experience and knowledge of campaign, branding and print. As an illustrator I have a huge passion for animation and over the last 18 months I have been fortunate enough to art direct our talented in-house animator on several projects which required animation.Clients include: ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board), NHS, Channel 4, Vegetarian Society, Buckinghamshire County Council, Queens Park Rangers

Creative Spark is a digital and branding agency in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. As a designer I worked on a range of digital, branding and motion projects, working closely with the creative and accounting teams. I have been involved in the creation of studio-initiated projects including the highly successful ‘Little Print Shop of Horrors’ which is now in it’s fifth year, raising money for Forever Manchester.I was able to utilise my skills as an illustrator by working on ‘scamps’ for pitches, sketches for initial concept work and storyboards for motion projects.Clients include: Universal Music, East Lancashire Railway, Vegetarian Society, ASICS, Welcome To Yorkshire, Philpotts, BBC, Manchester United Soccer Schools, The Lowry

As an intern at Creative Spark I was able to ‘muck in’ straight away on live projects, working closely with the senior design team to assist on projects for East Lancashire Railway, Manchester United Soccer Schools and Soulmate Food. I was able to utilise my skills as an illustrator by working on ‘scamps’ for pitches and other initial concept work to be presented to the client. My illustrations were used as part of the branding for Soulmate Food.
