I am a journalist with more than 20 years' experience working on national newspapers. In that time I had a number of roles from diary editor, news reporter, arts reviewer to senior features writer. As its senior features writer and interviewer I covered everything from real life and political pieces to celebrity, entertainment, and arts features. I also worked closely with the charity, Children in Crisis, to ensure their work was highlighted in a series of powerful features. I was one of the lead writers on the Sunday Express's award-winning mental health campaign liaising with several charities, including Mind and Samaritans, to provide must-read features and news stories.As well as excellent writing skills, I am hard-working, flexible and am skilled in web design, radio and video production.A quick study, I have an excellent news sense and can source and break stories producing copy quickly and to tight deadlines on a broad range of topics. I currently freelancing at the Guardian and the i newspaper as a news reporter and SEO writer. I also contribute features to my local paper, the Camden New Journal. Outside of work commitments, I campaign for dementia rights. In 2011 and 2012 I devised, fought and won two campaigns in Camden (all on a voluntary basis) to save a dementia centre from closure by the council. The campaign gained widespread print and broadcast coverage. I set up a small dementia charity, Friends of Netherwood, and have run marathons to fund outings and musical events for people living with dementia in Camden. Tenacious and deeply committed to working well in whatever environment I find myself, I would be an asset to an organisation.
