I have always been entranced by the world of public relations and the seeming controversy around it. Is it legitimate? Is it valuable? How do you measure it? Everyone seems to want it – it is clearly a viable form of marketing that impacts a business – yet everyone has an opinion about it. To me, public relations is the most authentic and influential channel of marketing. It persuades people to consider and then engage with a brand’s product, consciously and subconsciously. So it was in 1991 that I decided to start a public relations agency to stake my claim to an industry that I felt helped consumers differentiate between brands and products they wanted to buy.The agency, Jane Gill Public Relations (or Jane Gill & Associates as it was originally named), has worked with some of the most captivating brands including Banana Republic, Farrow & Ball, H&M, J.Crew, Joe Fresh, Lacoste, NARS Cosmetics, Old Navy, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, TAG Heuer, Thompson Hotels, Tiffany & Co., Vespa, Victorinox Swiss Army, West Elm, and Williams-Sonoma. Our goal is to continue to build rewarding connections between consumers and specialty/luxury brands to create awareness, desire and engagement.
