Infoway helps to improve the health of Canadians by working with partners to accelerate the development, adoption and effective use of digital health solutions across Canada.As Executive Director, Special Projects I led a national strategic initiative to help Canada’s federal, provincial and territorial governments prepare for the deployment at scale of emerging technology trends (such as artificial intelligence, genomics and precision medicine) that could potentially transform the health system over the next 5–10 years. This initiative included two major workstreams:• A large-scale, multi-channel consultation of Canadians from all walks of life and every jurisdiction. The consultation engaged Canadians on their views about the future of their health care system, particularly in terms of how it could work better for them and their families, as well as their attitudes about the role of technology in improving health care. • An analysis of emerging digital health technology trends that are approximately 5-10 years away from readiness for widespread adoption. The analysis addressed the potential impact of these technologies along with the complex technical and non-technical issues that Canada will need to tackle in order to leverage these solutions to strengthen the health system, improve quality of care and empower Canadians to better manage their own health.

    Recruited to build and lead a division comprised of the Project Management Office (PMO), the enterprise-wide Project Portfolio Management (PPM) solution, the Metrics & Reporting group and the Investment Programs team. These business units governed, monitored and reported on an investment portfolio totalling over 400 projects with a value of $2.1 billion. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, I was also accountable for supporting him on a number of strategic matters, including federal government relations.Selected Accomplishments:- Won the worldwide “PMO of the Year” award for 2013 by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading professional association for the project management profession. The PMO also won Canadian Government Executive Magazine’s national “2014 Leadership Award.”- Created a robust business case for the acquisition of an enterprise-wide PPM solution, a major internal IT initiative. Acted as Executive Sponsor of a 60-person cross-departmental team that implemented the solution, on schedule and under budget, and later won the CEO’s “Team of the Year” award. - Acted as an internal expert consultant in the rapid establishment of a $340 million investment program that represented a strategic shift in Infoway’s business and which significantly exceeded its expected outcomes.- Mentored a staff of project and program management specialists in their professional and personal development. Several achieved Project Management Professional (PMP) designations and promotions, and two were each named “Employee of the Year” by the CEO.- Delivered project portfolio management expert advice through national and international speaking engagements, consultations and authorship of a case study in a PPM textbook.
