At The University of Edinburgh’s Bayes Centre, world-leading data science and artificial intelligence teams are shaping a better future for everyone. Bringing together multi-disciplinary expertise from AI to Informatics plus human-centred design along with world-class computing capability and working with partners, Bayes Centre is a proving ground for data-driven innovation to solve real-world problems through scientific enquiry, inspiring design and industrial collaboration.As a member of the Bayes management team, my role was to develop and implement a holistic marketing and communications strategy, positioning Bayes Centre as an integral component in the ambition to establish Edinburgh as the Data Capital of Europe.

The Clinical Innovation Zone has been designed with collaboration at its heart. Located within Glasgow’s flagship Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus (the largest acute medical facility in Western Europe), the Clinical Innovation Zone provides an innovative working environment for industry, at the interface of academia and the NHS. 22,000 square feet of high specification managed units in a modern and secure environment provide an opportunity for industry to secure lab, office or hot desking space in a creative working environment designed to initiate and facilitate collaboration. Units can be easily and rapidly configured to accommodate office or laboratory operations, up to category 2. Managed by the University of Glasgow, the Clinical Innovation Zone seeks companies across the broad spectrum of precision medicine, imaging and diagnostics who wish to collaborate with academic and NHS researchers; including the Stratified Medicine Scotland Innovation Centre. Licence agreements are flexible and designed to support the aspirations of our partners -short or longer term. Leading the Clinical Innovation Zone, my role was to foster and encourage open innovation; working with stakeholders to ensure the easy transferral of companies attracted by the ability to access world-leading clinical academics, outstanding clinical research facilities and the state of the art infrastructure on site.

Eden Scott is an independent recruitment and human resources services business with a unique approach, building lasting partnerships with customers; jointly formulating appropriate recruitment strategies and tactics. Reporting to the board, I was responsible for developing 'TalentSpark' - a distinctive, bespoke approach to delivering tailored talent solutions for early stage tech and high growth ventures; managing all stakeholder relations and widening our company connections.I worked in partnership with the marketing team to create a strategic direction for the brand and with my recruitment colleagues to develop a service that was suited to the unique demands of startups and scaling tech based businesses.

As the first employee of BioCity Scotland, I worked with a wide range of stakeholders, Government bodies and Industry organisations, initiating and developing partnerships to strengthen BioCity Scotland's ability to attract and grow dynamic life science organisations - and service their needs. I was responsible for managing all company relations from the initial meeting, through negotiation of lease, to move in - and ongoing, taking the 20 acre site from a zero base to almost 50% occupancy in my time with the company. As the initial point of contact I constantly extended our network and promoted BioCity Scotland as a premier location 'central to Life Sciences in Scotland': building strategic relationships with Corporate partners to provide business support, Investors and funding sources to 'bridge the gaps' and a wide range of organisations able to provide services, training and other support mechanisms to fine tune BioCity's offering and providing the perfect environment for tenant companies to flourish.I was solely responsible for planning and implementing the BioCity Events programme, devising seminars and workshops to meet the business needs of the sector: conceiving the format, securing speakers and working with caterers and other suppliers to ensure the smooth delivery. I was the main point of contact for our external Communications specialists and liased with them to maximise our Public Relations profile and manage our Public Affairs activity.Alongside the University of Glasgow I was co-chair of the Glasgow Economic Leadership Life Science Marketing Stream, representing BioCity Scotland at the Life Science Association Special Interest Groups and the wider BioCity group at UKBIF and UKSPA.

Responsible for all aspects of internal and external communications relating to the science park, I developed and maintained all promotional materials. As well as representing the interests of Roslin BioCentre within the Edinburgh Science Triangle, I was a member of the Nexxus Scotland Steering group, represented Roslin BioCentre at the UK Science Park Association and was a founding member and secretariat for the UK BioIncubator Forum Group.On a day to day basis my role entailed all aspects of marketing Roslin BioCentre, internal communications with tenants and staff, external stakeholder engagement and communicating the benefits of tenancy to potential new companies as well as working to ensure the customer satisfaction of our existing tenant companies.

I worked on a range of social marketing campaigns including Child In-Home Safety, Domestic Abuse, Adult Literacy and Child Car Safety as well as a range of driver behaviour campaigns in this young media startup. We employed a cohesive approach involving research, developing media and creative strategies, media buying and sourcing commercial sponsors as well as campaign analysis.I also account managed a number of commercial clients including Sword's pies.

Identified Community issues that positioned the radio station as a 'Community Champion' and developed cohesive initiatives with a strong call to action, tackling hard hitting issues - including domestic abuse, adult literacy and road safety

During this period I brought up my two small children and worked in customer services at Standard Life and some freelance media consultancy work.
