Having joined the industry shortly before the 9/11 attacks, Janel is keenly aware of the debilitating power of fear. In 2007, she launched Align just months before the Financial Crisis. Again, she found herself calming the fears of savers amidst endless Doomsday headlines.Her success in hard times comes from understanding how it feels to be afraid. This understanding and dedication to helping hard working men and women are at the heart of everything she does. Her honesty, empathy and ability to connect are powerful but Janel also believes that knowledge and expertise are central to doing what’s best for clients. A relentless student of the industry, she obtained her Masters Degree in 2013 and advanced her expertise in the specialized field of retirement planning by obtaining her Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation.In 2016, she was selected as a Captain of the National Association of Plan Advisors Top Women Advisors. In 2018, she received Central PA Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award and was recognized as a Top Retirement Advisor by Financial Times. Janel is involved in multiple community projects and is at the center of “getting things done.” Janel’s most involved community endeavor is chairing Lancaster's committee for MFG DAY, a way of introducing students to the high-demand, high-paying careers in our manufacturing companies. In 2018, Lancaster’s Workforce Development Board recognized her commitment to improving the lives of Lancaster County youth through education and development opportunities.Janel is a graduate of Rutgers University where she also played field hockey. When she isn’t at the office or buzzing around Lancaster, you’ll find her at home in Denver, PA with her husband, Tom, and their six children – Connor, Jackson, Catherine, Duncan (Golden Retriever), Grace (Pit Bull) and Angel (the one-eyed cat). As a family, they are enthusiastic advocates for pet rescue.
