The Parent Nurturing program supports families who are working with foster care agencies to have their children return home from temporary placement. The program offers a structured series of parenting education and supervised parent/child activity time, including family meal times to support families and foster care agencies as they work towards parental reunification.Each series consists of 12 weekly group meetings. There are separate group sessions for parents and for children occurring at the same time. Groups include both parents (or just moms or fathers) who are in the process of being reunified with their children. Services support nurturing relationships that re-connect parents and their children. Children are grouped into age appropriate groups for structured play opportunities while the parents receive therapeutic and skill building group services. Parents and children then come together for a meal and relationship building activities. Staff provide support and guidance throughout the family activities in a safe and welcoming environment.

As the Arbor Circle Volunteer Coordinator I was responsible for recruiting, training, placing and supervising volunteers and interns across our programs. During this role I worked closely with the United Way Volunteer Center and served on the board of the Volunteer Management Association of Western Michigan.
