Arbor Circle is a provider of essential services in our community. My role is to build awareness and support for our important work by growing and cultivating relationships with individuals, businesses and community partners to engage them in supporting Arbor Circle in a way that is meaningful to them. This includes Board and committee engagement; oversight of community awareness and fundraising events; and coordination of advancement initiatives and grant opportunities.

I help grow and cultivate relationships with individuals, families and companies in our community, in order to engage them in supporting Arbor Circle in a way that is meaningful to them. This may include committee work, board membership, event planning, program volunteering, and advocacy. I also develop opportunities for the broader community to get to know Arbor Circle through monthly tours, community awareness events and assisting our clients in sharing their stories.

As the Community Youth Development Coordinator I manage the WIA component of our Youth Services Division. This includes youth screenings and intakes, coordination with the case management team, and monitoring and reporting program outcomes. In addition I facilitate workforce development activities by planning our monthly life skills workshop calendar, building partnerships with community employers, and overseeing the Arbor Circle paid work experience program. In this role also serve as the Field Instructor for BSW interns from FSU and GVSU.

The Parent Nurturing program supports families who are working with foster care agencies to have their children return home from temporary placement. The program offers a structured series of parenting education and supervised parent/child activity time, including family meal times to support families and foster care agencies as they work towards parental reunification.Each series consists of 12 weekly group meetings. There are separate group sessions for parents and for children occurring at the same time. Groups include both parents (or just moms or fathers) who are in the process of being reunified with their children. Services support nurturing relationships that re-connect parents and their children. Children are grouped into age appropriate groups for structured play opportunities while the parents receive therapeutic and skill building group services. Parents and children then come together for a meal and relationship building activities. Staff provide support and guidance throughout the family activities in a safe and welcoming environment.

This position consisted of 3 distinct components:As the Community Living Supports Program Coordinator I was responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and supervising community volunteers as well as a staff of 35 employees. In addition I conducted youth assessments and coordinated care with program therapists to facilitate and monitor mentor matches. During this role I served as the Chairperson for the Kent County Mentoring Collaborative and as a member of the Mentor Michigan Providers Council.As the Youth Community Service Program Coordinator, I worked to develop a partnership with the Grand Rapids Public Schools to work with suspended and expelled youth and engage them in volunteer and leadership development activities. This included program assessment, case management services and coordination of care with community organizations and schools. As the Arbor Circle Volunteer Coordinator I was responsible for recruiting, training, placing and supervising volunteers and interns across our programs. During this role I worked closely with the United Way Volunteer Center and served on the board of the Volunteer Management Association of Western Michigan.

A PAL works with the GRPS FACE (Family & Community Engagement) team and acts as a liaison between the school district and the families from the corresponding school.

Ambassadors Committee members serve as liaisons between the Chamber and its members by personally visiting and calling their peers. Through their efforts, Ambassadors help fellow members engage in the events, and money-saving opportunities that help them make full use of their membership. They also attend and aid Chamber staff at our various networking and Ribbon Cutting events.

This generation is looking to contribute what they know to help create a better community. •Engage skilled people 50+ who can assist you with everything from legal matters to web design. •Gain insights from being part of a learning collaborative with colleagues from other organizations. The curriculum is based on state-of-the-art research on critical issues about engaging people age 50+ in meaningful service. The goal of Encore is to harness this knowledge and put it to use, while helping to engage people 50+ in meaningful service.

I assist a licensed counselor in facilitation of a group for kids who have experienced a death of someone in their life. It's a time for kids to learn more about the grief journey and their feelings about it through interactive activities.

Provided evening child care for a 5 yr old boy (who then proudly turned 6) I coordinated meals, assisted with his kindergarten homework, engaged him in activities and put him to bed.
