About Janelle Matharoo Amima

30+ year career span in senior management positions at ‎globally recognized financial institutions (Bankers Trust, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse First Boston, ICBC Standard Bank) where I built and managed successful client franchises in the commodities trading environment. Started trading in the nascent commodity derivatives markets in 1989, made Managing Director in 1997 and have been in the global lead role at each institution since. The journey has involved leading large teams to success through building a client-centric business that delivered material solutions through the excellence of trading and absorbing, managing, and redistributing market/credit risks. The experience has seen me through every conceivable scenario including two gulf wars, the Russian credit crisis, the Great Recession of 2008, and the global Covid pandemic of 2020.During this amazing journey I have attained a mastery in many fields in the world of commodities trading: physical commodity flow, information flow, risk management, derivatives, portfolio management, the levers of trading and the skillful use of all of these to design of meaningful solutions to clients. Success in these fields has required leadership, innovation, and taking a stand to deliver the change that was needed to the businesses and the individuals I have had the privilege to lead.
