As lead receptionist, I welcomed visitors, informed them of the current exhibit, ongoing programs, and upcoming events connected to the Art Museum. I also organized and maintained the gift shop and made sales. I learned and improved upon the sales cash register application and management. I worked with our commissioned artists, set up their paperwork, and processed their sales so that they would be paid each month. I fostered positive relationships with the artists we had on commission as well as exhibiting artists. This included maintaining conversations over the phone as well as through emails and occasionally through text messages. I worked on fundraising events, reaching out to vendors, companies, and artists we’ve worked with in the past to invite them to participate. I attended special events after hours, lead tours through the museum, set-up and lead monthly meetings at the museum, and walked people through the areas on-site that were available to rent out. Together with my team, I set up areas for special events including setting out chair, setting up the audio/visual equipment, and created and set out decorations. I cashiered, counted out cash, and made sure we had a balanced till. Bi-monthly, I worked with the museum director to receive and document our donations. I set people up with new memberships, and helped others renew their expired ones, and explained the benefits. We had some art that was multi-media so I set up the audio-visual systems daily for those artworks. When we got to the end of an exhibit, I helped remove and box up that artwork, and when it came from our permanent collection, I returned those pieces to where they belonged. I helped space out and hang new works as they came in, and helped open crates and carry out various 3-D works including bronze sculptures and ceramics. I delegated various tasks to my team, I maintained aspects of the museum’s calendar, and scheduled other employees shifts for each month.
