Jurong Health is a new corporation in Singapore currently in the process of building a 700 bed acute hospital in the west of the country with an adjoining 400 bed community hospital. It provides high quality health care with facilities that are in line with international standards.All rotations were supervised by experienced senior staff and included continual training in the form of weekly inservices, journal club and multidisciplinary lectures with MDT.Rotations:• MSK outpatients (6 months)Wide variety of conditions including Neck pain, Back pain, OA, general musculoskeletal. Patients attending this service were referred from doctors within the hospital or local GP. Caseload consisted of up to 18 patients per day with a mean of 12.• Orthopaedics inpatients with outpatient clinics (6 months)Management of a 43 bed ward. Broad range of orthopaedic cases (THR, TKR, Spinal surgery, Knee surgery, Shoulder surgery, poly trauma and overflow respiratory cases). Assisted in developing orthopaedic outpatient physiotherapy clinic for THR and TKR patients.• Geriatrics inpatients (3 months)Management of a diverse geriatric caseload, working closely with a holistic MDT. Weekly formal meetings and participation in ward rounds. During this rotation I attended a 3 day course on Management in Parkinson’s Disease with guest lecturer Dr Alice Nieuwboer who was principal investigator in the RESCUE-project (2002-2005). • Rehabilitation Medicine and Transitional Care (3 months)Management of patients requiring additional rehab before suitable for home. Largely consisting of THR, TKR and deconditioned patients. All neurology cases within the hospital were also managed by this team, including conditions such as stroke, Guillain-Barré, TBI and spinal cord injuries.• Intensive Care (6 month rotation, extended to static position)Co-management of two eight bed ICU/HDU units. Supporting more junior staff and helping to supervise final year physiotherapy students on placement.

It involved pre and post motor skills testing of approx 250 pupils in DCU Sport Science Centre, activity questionnaires, an 8 week intervention programme of specialised PE classes twice a week and organising activity days throughout the 8 weeks including a sports day and a skipping day. Finally data was analysed using ‘SPSS’ and ‘Focus’.
