As the Group Executive Director responsible for the Professional Services and Relationships Group, I am responsible for providing independent advice to the Auditor-General on standards, quality assurance matters and audit legislation and for providing leadership and advice to support the ANAO’s external relations activities including parliamentary liaison, engagement with government agencies and national and international peers and standard setters.  

Head of National Technical division with responsibility for the application of accounting, audit and professional and ethical standards. I also have responsibility for the practical application of RSM Bird Cameron’s quality assurance and risk containment and independence policies.

Responsibility for financial reporting, including IFRS implementation, statutory and investor reporting. Also involved in the demerger of Australian and New Zealand operations.

Worked in the audit, national technical and quality assurance practices. During this period I also spent 18 months working in the financial service audit practice in London.Provided assurance and advisory services to a wide variety of clients, with a focus on the audit of companies in the financial services industry. This involved managing the audits of a number of large multinational clients in the life insurance, general insurance, insurance broking, investment banking, stockbroking and securitisation sectors. Technical advisory services were provided to a diverse range of clients and industries in both the public and private sector.
