• Manage the Quality Assurance Laboratory in a plant producing EPA regulated pet products.
• Train, perform, and supervise chemists testing raw materials and finished product using GC, HPLC, and FTIR.
• Develop and validate methods for submission of pesticide formulations to the EPA.

• Manage the Quality Assurance Laboratory, overseeing the Quality Systems and requirements of a manufacturing plant, ensuring operation in compliance with cGMP, USP, and customers’ quality specifications.
• Train and supervise laboratory personnel in assaying bulk formulas and finished product using GC, FTIR, HPLC, and UV-VIS.
• Helped to build better communication with Compounding and Pre-Weigh so that the laboratory could be more pro-active in helping to meet production requirements / schedules.

• Work with customers, including Johnson and Johnson, Proctor and Gamble, Playtex, Burt’s Bees, and Elizabeth Arden to assist in the analysis and production of OTC, Personal Care, and Cosmetic Products.
• Back-up contact for plant Haz-Mat after receiving RCRA and HAZWOPER Training.

• Primarily responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of an agricultural testing lab.
• Samples were primarily fresh produce, seafood, and spices.
• Interface with clients, and schedule sampling for the FDA detention samples.
• Responsible for laboratory safety and health, as well as safe and legal disposal of laboratory wastes.
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training of new employees.
• Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, whenever possible, on lab equipment.

• Created a chromatography lab, which included evaluating which equipment to order, designing the lab layout, ordering expendables, and evaluating which assays to initially focus upon.
• Developed an HPLC method for the analysis of Folic Acid, working with Dr. Jeanne Rader, FDA Washington, who validated it using the official microbiological method.
• Worked with the Food Division, Cereal Ingredients, Inc., to assist in developing a HAACP Plan, as well as providing analyses for the product.
• Assisted in designing both a quality control and chemical hygiene plan that resulted in our becoming ISO certified.
• Assayed for Vitamins by HPLC and for Mycotoxins by HPLC and TLC.
• Served as an officer for AACC.

• Insured that EPA GLP, FDA, and USDA methodologies and quality assurance guidelines were followed by analysts.
• Researched and adapted methods for new analytical procedures to be used in the lab.
• Assayed for Pesticides, Herbicides, PCB’s, and Volatiles by GC and HPLC per appropriate USDA, FDA, AOAC, or AOCS methodology in a variety of agricultural/food matrices.
• Performed TLC analysis for Sulfonamide residues in meat.
• Participated in USDA check program for Organochlorine Pesticides, PCB’s, and Sulfonamides.
• Trained analysts on instrumentation and procedures.
