About Jane Porter

I’ve always been driven to start my own business, be my own boss and to create something that I could be enormously proud of. The idea for the business came to me whilst I was on holiday – a trip to Africa I’d painstakingly saved for – and whilst staying in some of the best luxury hotels in the world, it became evident that the exquisite food, decadent interiors, and impeccable service were always partnered with ill-fitting, uninspiring uniforms. I recognised an industry-wide need within the hospitality sector for beautifully constructed, stylish uniforms. At the time, I was working as a fashion buyer for Sweaty Betty so I had more than a good working knowledge of how the fashion industry, design and manufacturing process operated so I knew I could do better and how to realise my dream to run my own business into action. A market research trip of world-renowned and five-star hotels soon followed to meet with key contacts and potential clients and in 2010, Studio 104 launched from my kitchen in South London. Within a year, I’d clinched three dream-come-true-contracts, including working with The Savoy who were the perfect springboard to a client roster of global grandeur that included The Ritz, The Connaught, DeBeers, Fortnum & Mason, Broadwick Soho, The Newt and The NoMad. Alongside our continuing landmark hotel relationships, we have grown the Studio 104 offering and now work with luxury multi-site restaurant, retail, and hotel groups, Royal Palaces across the globe, private projects for ultra-HNW individuals and luxury aviation clients. Studio 104 is now a multi-million-pound British business, led by me and my team, driving change and innovation in its sector. We are specialists in luxury outfitting and the Studio 104 team combine creativity with commerciality to deliver an end-to-end service with trademark high-level expertise in all areas from concept, design, and garment development through to ethical manufacturing, purchasing, quality control and the final impeccable fitting. Taking an approach akin to a high-end fashion atelier, client uniform concepts are uniquely inspired by a brands’ culture, heritage, vision, and interiors to create a uniform that is anything but. And I still love travelling and visiting a gorgeous hotel. Now I get to do so whilst seeing my design projects within them.
