500 hours of field placement was undertaken and Kyabra Community Organisation as part of the placement requirements for AASW registration.Kyabra community organisation focuses on 5 core service areas: NDIS, Disability support services, Housing support service, Foster and Kinship Care, Parent and Children’s activities. Kyabra operates within a strong strength based framework which is evidenced in everything the organisation does.Throughout my placement I was located in the case management team, which takes on the core work with clients in the foster disability and housing sectors. While I was able to take on tasks and experience the role in the disability and foster sections, my case load featured work with homestay clients. The Kyabra Homestay program focuses on helping people maintain at risk tenancy’s, and find other sustainable tenancy options. The Logan CCU is a residential rehabilitation unit within the Metro South Healthcare system which focuses on the rebuilding and establishment of essential life skills in those with dual diagnosis mental health conditions as a stepping stone back into community living.
