Group Financial Accountant

London, Gb

As a senior member of the Group Finance team, I owned the reconciliation, preparation, and analysis of more complex and higher risk group reporting to internal and external recipients. I also managed the end-to-end process for submission of statutory accounts and annual tax returns for all joint venture entities. As well as maintaining the quality of routine reporting, a period of change for the business and expansion of my role created lots of variety, integration, and change. I simplified processes and reports inherited from other areas of the finance team and improved their accuracy, transparency, and quality. This involved redesigning reporting templates, designing, testing, and implementing updates to journal posting processes, and managing relationships with stakeholders I supervised a project to enhance the automation of joint venture statutory accounts preparation in CCH. This involved adding entities for which accounts were previously prepared in excel and reducing the amount of manual intervention to produce an accurate set of accounts.I initially joined the company on a short-term contract to assist with preparation of group financial statements, before performing the role of group financial accountant, eventually becoming line manager to three direct reports. I also provided part-time support to the HQ Management Accounting team for a period of nine months and ran an excel tutorial group for the finance team.

Leading and managing the Client Reporting and Transfer Agency Support Team, I reported to the Head of Strategic Projects and Client Reporting and managed external client reporting to Investors in alternatives products, utilising Webfolio, eFront, and advanced Excel spreadsheets to collate data which then generated monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. As well as ensuring a strong control environment was maintained for routine reporting, my role contained lots of integration, variety and change. We were in the continual process of acquiring companies; creating many moving financial parts, numerous stakeholders and necessitating the integration of multiple systems, processes and internal reports. This involved managing clients, data generators, editors of reports and external service providers.I designed new reports and formatting for monthly and quarterly accounting which went to the relevant fund Board for the specific products as well as external clients. Some of which became routine reports. When I joined the company I worked on hedge funds. During my employment, I was promoted once and acquired a full suite of alternatives; property, private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure and Pan Alternatives. My role also grew, from spending half my time managing these functions, to having a team of two and all three of us working on this full timeAs the business grew, I designed and implemented group reporting templates.
