Responsible for all aspects of the finance function, this includes ensuring full compliance to statutory requirements, management accounts and payroll. I managed the finance team of 9 across two locations ensuring robust systems and processes and am a member of the senior management team helping to shape and implement business strategy.I prepare and manage all financial statements and reports, book keeping, VAT and tax returns, audits, payroll, banking and insurance arrangements. I played a key role in a major transformation programme leading to the merger of Watford with Central Herts YMCA in Apr 2014. The merger doubled the size of the organisation from 180 to 300+ employees.In addition to merging and leading the two finance teams I helped to establish a new group VAT structure for complex set of facilities that include 3 hostels (350 beds) for vulnerable adults, 3 health and well-being centres, 3 nurseries, 5 children’s centres, 3 community centres and numerous youth clubs and projects.Further projects include merging two payroll systems within a pressing time-scale and embedding a new auto-enrolment system for complex employer pension scheme ensuring full compliance to legislative requirements.Introducing and developing a set of management reports, I also gained CIPFA accreditation for individual development plans and training. A pilot scheme with HMRC and SAGE led to the implementation of real time information (RTI) well in advance of new statutory requirements.It was also my role to manage the supplier tender process and I was also a member of the YMCA regional finance group sharing ideas and best practice.

In this role I managed the year end accounting and audit preparation for this leading group of companies that include Warner Leisure Hotels and Haven Holidays.

During this period I carried out freelance accountancy duties with RS Kennedy, a construction firm, and with Three Valleys Water preparing management accounts and processing financial information.

With responsibility for managing club finances, this included preparing statements and reports, VAT and tax returns, payroll and managing the finance team. I also coordinated the preparation and distribution of monthly management accounts to the Directors and Group Accountant ensuring meaningful information to enable key business decisions. I was also responsible for bank and cash handling on match days.

I managed the office and all accountancy and financial services for this busy family run firm with over 50 taxi and courier drivers. This included financial reports, advertising, invoicing and debt collecting, office management, negotiating with suppliers, VAT and payroll.
